Hey ladies! I spend quite a bit of money buying BM bags...I discovered these biodegradable BM bags on Facebook and thought I would share....they'll send you free samples and they have a bulk buy, 300 for $40 (if you "like" them on FB), plus free shipping...not bad! I requested a sample so I'll report back...but it looks like milk banks are using them for there durability so this could be awesome since I've had quite a few leaks while using the Lansinoh bags which are more expensive...plus they're better for the environment Smile

OK ladies, we got the samples a while back and our donor and I really like them! They have this ribbed reinforcement on the bottom, which is where the leaks always are in other bags. We haven't frozen them though, since this donor gives us fresh milk every week, that would be the real test...but they seem pretty sturdy to me! Since they're so affordable and environmentally friendly I think I'm going to order some in bulk to have on hand for future donors Smile

You can buy them on Amazon, or from their facebook page directly (see link above). It's cheapest if you "like" them on facebook and order from there...

great link- I've requested a sample- $0.15/bag is much better than $0.22 from others, especially for a large quantity of milk.

UPDATE: Our local donor moved out of state and has been shipping milk to us...I purchased a bulk pack of these bags for her and I received her first shipment a few weeks ago. I am sad to report that 95% of the bags have leaked...needless to say defrosting milk has been a nightmare. I normally defrost 6 bags at once and pretty much every night all 6 have leaked out the side seams and/or top. I had such high hopes for these bags but have since gone back to Lansinoh, while I had a fair amount of leaks with them it was nothing like this! Our donor only put the recommended 6 oz in each bag, froze them flat and shipped them with care. I was careful putting the bags into the deep freeze so this was not a user problem. If you’re planning to ship or freeze any milk I would definitely not use these bags.

Cmarino, first of let me apologize for the trouble you are experiencing. This is something completely new to us as we have never had any reports of such high leak rates with our bags. This is something that we need to investigate to make sure our quality is never compromised. We take pride in our product and designed it with the intention of providing the best possible storage option on the market. I would appreciate your help (and your donor mom’s help) in determining the cause of this issue. Please contact me directly at jon@newbagco.com. We need to know the lot number, inspection number and original order number. We also need to know how it was shipped, how it was packaged and what type of coolant was used in shipping (ice, dry ice, cold packs, etc.) We would also like to get any remaining bags, used or unused, back to us for inspection and testing. We are very concerned about our quality and need your help and input to make sure we are getting you the best product available. Please contact me as soon as possible.

update cont: Just wanted to let everyone know that Jonathan from Honeysuckle has been awesome about trying to figure out the issue I was having and make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm going to send him some of the leaky bags so he can investigate the issue and figure out what happened. He's also sending me some honeysuckle ziploc bags as well as a free bulk box of bm bags. I probably would be too nervous to use these bags again for shipping but will definitely use them for local donations.
