My daughter, Karleigh, is 6 months old. I pumped for her since about day 2. Due to jaundice issues that made her unavailable to me for her first 24 hours and then latching issues, I had to pump to get my milk in and eventually stopped trying to get her to the breast but kept on pumping. At about 5 months my milk supply just dwindled within a week to about 2 oz per day. The stress from not making enough milk was enough to dry me up completely. I used up my freezer stash within about 2 weeks, even supplementing with an oz of formula here and there. I never pumped more than 22 oz a day at the most anyway so I wasn't able to store much at all. I think I had about 150 oz in my freezer. Anyway, we had since run out of my milk and Karleigh does NOT like formula. It's been a struggle the last 2 weeks to get her to drink anything.
I was on the Milkshare group in Yahoo for a few weeks and got no response. When we moved here I posted my story, with low expectations I'll admit, but within a day a local mama came to our rescue! She lives 6 minutes away and my Karleigh is getting her first batch of donor milk tonight! This amazing mama is going to be such a major blessing to us. I could not wish for a more perfect situation than this. Many thanks from the bottom of our hearts!
