cold sores/fever blisters and donating? Empty cold sores/fever blisters and donating?

I was reading on milkshare.com and came across a donor agreement or questionnaire, I can't remember. But it asked if you get cold sores/fever blisters and how often. What does this have to do with donating milk? I've gotten them for as long as I can remember, would this prevent me from donating?

Ok then. Smile Does anyone know where I could find a definite answer on this? I e-mailed milkshare directly as well and haven't heard back. I don't know where else to find the information.

Cold sores are a form of herpes, herpes simplex, and it is very transmittable and can be very dangerous to newborns. If you do get cold sores (90+% of the population test positive for the virus), it is probably fine as long as it is no where near the breasts and you do not touch your mouth (or wherever) and then handle your breasts or your pump parts without washing your hands well.
