Hi there,
I live in Connecticut and have a 4 months old medically complex little one in intensive care. I can't travel to pick up the milk, but would happily pay any shipping costs. My own frozen supply will run out in a week or so, and I'm so worried that my son will have a reaction to formula. He has a g-tube and has had another procedure to deal with severe reflux. The side effect is that he can't throw up or burp, so the normal reactions to formula could be disastrous for him.

Let me know if we can arrange something. Thanks so much!
Ann

have lots of milk to donate

Post by supersolstice5 on Fri Apr 16, 2010 1:17 pm

Hi. I have a freezer full of milk that I am thinking should be donated sooner rather than later, given that I am blessed to make more than my LO needs, and plan/hope to provide fresh BM for him for up to a year--so the milk I've frozen so far would be better off used by someone who needs it!
If anyone is interested, please contact me.
Facts you may want to know off the bat:
I live in queens/work in nassau, and am looking for someone to come and pick up the milk.
I have never smoked or used drugs. I have not had alcohol since long before pregnancy.
I do not have any infectious disease.
I do take prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, folate and lecithin daily.
I meet all criteria as put forth by the the human milk banking association of america --www.hmbana.org -- notes that donor mothers must be:
In good general health (I am)
Willing to undergo a blood test (at the milk bank's expense) (I can provide results if you want it)
Not regularly using medication or herbal supplements (with the exception of progestin-only birth control pills or injections, Synthroid, insulin, pre-natal vitamins; for other exceptions, please contact a milk bank for more information)
Willing to donate at least 100 ounces of milk; some banks have a higher minimum [/i]
Thanks for reading!
