blood work

Post by abqfish on Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:57 pm

With my firs DD, I donated my excess frozen milk to a local mom. It was great. We got to know each other, and I got to see her son grow and thrive. We met through a natural birth center. I didn't get any blood work done. It just didn't come up. Looking through the milkshare program, it looks like it is very common for a recipient to request recent bloodwork (for HIV, etc). I don't mind giving out my prenatal bloodwork because it has already been done. However, my insurance would not cover the tests for milk donation, and it looks like it might cost $600+ for the bloodwork. Does everyone get this done? Am I missing an insurance loop-hole here? An insight would be appreciated!

Any additional blood work that the recipient wants should be covered by the recipient and not you.

I've been satisfied with prenatal bloodwork from all of our generous donors, but I would certainly cover the cost of additional testing if it were necessary.
