350 Ounces of Frozen Milk to Donate--- in Edina
Re: 350 Ounces of Frozen Milk to Donate--- in Edina
and getting food. she kept losing weight, and we had to start supplementing, which we did with a bottle and formula, not aware of any other way. i started taking every supplement known to man, pumping, etc. My sister had had this same problem, but it never ever occurred to me that I would too. i thought if i could have a baby, i'd be able to feed the baby. i was very healthy, active, never any problems. anyways, we eventually found out about the lact-aid supplementer (at the breast, if you're not familiar with it), and when she was about 6 mos old, got connected with some donated milk. we dont' vaccinate, so i was very concerned with her low immunity. we nursed until 14 mos or so, and used as much breastmilk as we had, and formula when we didn't. as silly as it may sound, not being able to nurse was one of the most difficult things in my life up to this point. it is very very important to me, and i couldn't help but feel like a failure as a mother. so i get pregnant again, living in dallas this time, and think, i'll try harder. i have absolutely no mammary tissue, and relatively no growth in that area when pregnant, but for some reason i got my hopes up anyways. started working with a really really good lactation consultant, payed all kinds of money for prescription drugs, saw a specialist for hormone therapy, another alternative practitioner that had me on all kinds of things. I could hardly keep straight what i was supposed to do when. then my precious son was born, i had the hospital pump there, the scale, my calculator, everything so i could tell exactly how much milk he was getting from me, whether he was gaining/losing. i would nurse him for the requisite 30 min, do the supplementer, then pump for another 15 min. round the clock, every 3 hrs. we did this for 8 wks, which was very difficult on my 2 yr old. and husband! i finally gave up, i couldn't afford any more domperidone and it wasn't making a difference anyways. we were able to get a decent supply of donated milk, then he had alot of hearing problems and infections, and it was from a dairy allergy, so we redonated an entire freezer of milk. freezer included,a ctually. and put him back on the expensive formula, because i couldn't find dairy free milk. we nursed with that for a year or so. so here we are the third time, i'm due july 6. i've seen no growth in the booby dept, and i dont' anticipate any change. i know size isn't the most important thing, but if the size is due to lack of mammary glands, that, combined with no prolactin (i've had that tested both times, and its the level of someone not even pregnant or lactating), there is apparently nothing that can be done. having the supplementer and donated milk has been an absolutely lifesaver for us. i honestly have no idea how i would come to terms with my situation if it weren't for those 2 things. it is a most interesting nursing relationship, but its the best we can do. i had hoped to have 2,000 oz before the baby comes, and right now we're at 250 oz, which would last only a few weeks.
i live in KS, but can send you a cooler for shipping, complete with an adress label, and fedex can pick it up at your house. i know its a huge inconvenience, the pumping and washing it out, and storing it and everything, but at least the shipping part i can make easy for you. i could never express how grateful we are to the ladies who have donated to my other children. you are so special. thank youfor considering us for your extra milk! janacrisp@yahoo.com
