not to jump in on the conversation uninvited, or anything, and definitely not to discourage you from a donating relationship, but just so you know, shipping does get more difficult and more expensive the farther away you are. i have nothing to gain here, as i'm in the middle of the country, and still feel like california is too far to ship. i, and many other people, use the fedex ground map as a reference, and try to ship within the 1 or 2 day range. you're really taking a chance on it melting when it gets farther than that, unless you have the money to pay for air instead of ground. i know its none of my business, and i sincerely hope milk is changing hands and getting to people who need it no matter where they live. but i see all kinds of people donating milk in california, maybe more than anywhere else. more than kansas, that's for sure! good luck!

How to ship/store/ and freeze milk

You can ship milk with in our state or a couple states away from u as low as $25 ground shipping for 500oz. Breast milk melts at a cooler melting point then ice. And when shipped in larger amount 300oz or more can be shipped just fine at a low $$ with ups.

I have links where u can order a cooler and have it shipped right to the moms house... she fills it with milk goes to usp store, calls u on the phone and u pay for it over the phone right when shes there shipping it out... SO EZ!!!

Well, I have not shipped before. I have heard that if we ship at least 300 oz and by Fedex shipping then it needs no dry-ice. You'll have to check that though. Did you try posting your questions in the Recipient forum or General milk sharing to gain more info on this?

Sadly, no I dont have a donor. Have you shipped before? Iam not sure how it works! Dry ice? Iam trying to google it but I have yet to see that details on how I can make sure I can pay for it ahead of time.
