Hello!

By way of introduction, I am Mel and our family is in the process of growing by Adoption! Our Special Needs little one will be coming home somewhere between Feb. and May of 2011.

The children in the country we are working with are housed in Orphanages. Caregivers vary in compassion but one thing that is universal-the special need specific orphanages are understaffed and little ones are fed with propped bottles and literally, gruel is poured down the throats.

The special need (HIV+) and lack of early contact results in little ones who are nourished, but very, very thin by our American standards. Originally I had considered relactating; but I am not sure I will be able to establish and maintain supply merely pumping.
(Infectious Disease professionals do not recommend breastfeeding an HIV+ child the possibility of transmission is unknown).

However, I am a firm believer that Breastmilk will help our little one grow and thrive. I would love to connect with someone who would consider sharing with us. As mentioned, we are hoping to travel late winter/early spring to bring home our little one!

Kindest Regards
Mel
