Hadrian gets milk... Empty Hadrian gets milk...

Post by larohrbaugh Tue Jan 05, 2010 7:44 pm

Randomly at the end of August my friend approached my husband and I about adopting her cousin's baby. We had faced 2 years of infertility and immediately said yes. We were not prepared to adopt at all, and unborn baby boy was due in 2 weeks! I looked into adoptive breast feeding, but did not think I had time to get lactating...Unfortunately we got held up with paperwork but at the beginning of November we brought our son home. While searching out more info on breast feeding I stumbled upon a message board where someone had posted a link to MilkShare...I joined that night and two days later had two donors! Hadrian has been exclusively on breast milk for a little over a month and he is thriving! Our two donating mamas are amazing...as are all donating mamas! We appreciate each and every ounce Hadrian has gotten. One of the mamas has since quit pumping because she is able to stay home with her baby boy. And our other mama has already donated nearly 1000oz!

I tell everyone about the huge blessing in our life that MilkShare has been. Someone just yesterday mentioned how watered down Hadrian's formula looked...I laughed and said "well its breast milk" she kinda stared for a minute I guess a comment like that from an adoptive mom usually comes with an explanation so I happily told her about this awesome site and all the great mamas out there.

So thank you all for your generosity...
