If you go into UPS you can calculate shipping cost and time plugging in my zip, your zip the weight. It will give you the approximate cost and when it will arrive depending on the type of shipping you choose (1st day, 2nd day or ground). They suggested 2nd day this morning with wrapping it as I described.

hmmm...understandable. I wonder how an empty set of boxes could be 40lbs? But I do see the specs on the site...how much does your typical shipment weigh and cost? (I do have a lot to donate).

I'll give it more thought.

Thanks for the good wishes, we will take all the prayers we can get.

I am not sure how much you have to donate, but my calculations on UPS with a 40lb box and lets say additional 10lb (possibly 300 oz; as I have weighed 150 oz at approx. 5lbs) of milk would run us 90.00 for the package. Then shipping a 40lb box back would cost us approx. 70.00.

I would like your milk, but I am affraid that is a little more than our budget would allow at this point.

also and more importantly...I don't want to cause you any additional stress during this critical time. You have plenty of time to donate your 8 week old milk and might find someone local that won't cause all the travel time, etc.

You and Vivian will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Vivian is doing well, thx. She was born with a congenital disorder, but we are getting tests and visiting specialists for appropriate management. We are lucky in getting an early diagnosis.

Another mom has also been in contact with me a few days prior to you, and got back to me today, recommending use of a foam box inside a cardboard box for shipment. I would prefer to use the same shipping method for everyone. So here is what I was thinking. I would like to utilize a foam box shipping kit to ship milk to you. I would like you to hold on to both the foam box and the outer cardboard box. After the initial shipment, I will stay in touch with you. If I have sufficient stock in future, I will ask you to send the box back to me (empty) for re-use.

I know there is a bit more cost/overhead for you this way, but I am willing to absorb the initial cost of the shipment kit on account of the convenience factor for me. I will order the largest size box from this site:

Please review and let me know.

Is Vivian okay? If it is stressful to ship don't worry about it. I am sure I can find milk elsewhere. I just hate for you to throw it away. Is there no family local that is in need. There are 5 moms looking in SC for milk.

Wrapped pumped milk bags in airtight in Ziploc bags
Then wrapped tightly in bubble wrap, then in paper bags
Shipped in thick cardboard box packed tight with paper

Marked HUMAN MILK - - PERISHABLE - - FRAGILE

Second Day Air

Our address is 6 Pinto Court Travelers Rest, SC 29690

If you email me at jennifer@jennifergilbert.us I can email you their account number and then they will bill me once shipped to my address.

Blessings,
Jennifer

Jennifer and Noah-

My Vivian has some health problems that are keeping me busy, so while I cannot commit at this time to a long term arrangement, I think I can do at least one bulk shipment, possibly more. As I mentioned, I am out of room in my freezer and I am pumping and dumping at this point, which is just a crime!

Please describe what the shipping entails...materials etc.-I have never shipped perishables before.

Thanks,
Eilisa

Hi Vivian's Mom,

We live in Travelers Rest, SC and are willing to get a fed ex acct for overnight delivery for our son Noah. There are 5 moms in the SC/NC/GA area looking for BM and not having luck right now. We have been blessed with 5 different mommy's milk in the past 3 months.

Please let me know if you are interested in shipping your mommy's milk to our Noah.

In sincere thanks and abundant blessings,
Jennifer and Noah

I am over producing- more than my low volume 8 week old could ever eat. Already filled the freezer, so there is plenty to go around.

Updated 11/23/2010- After trying to accommodate some remote requests (and failing),I would like to request that only local parties contact me moving forward.

Thanks.
