hi, i'm in seattle, but was just wondering if you tried the oregon board? i think you would have more luck finding a portland donor than anyone close enough to you in WA. good luck!

Need Breast Milk for 6 week old in SW Washington... DESPERATELY NEED OFF FORMULA SUPPLEMENT! Empty Need Breast Milk for 6 week old in SW Washington... DESPERATELY NEED OFF FORMULA SUPPLEMENT!

I have been trying for 5 weeks to bring my milk supply up. For the first week of my son's life, I did not realize that he wasn't getting enough milk from me. I suspected, because he was inconsolable for most of it past the first 2 days, but I wasn't sure. I had complete trust in my body to make milk and it did, just not enough!

When I took him into the Dr. to talk about why he was inconsolably crying all of the time @ 1 week old, and to express my concerns, we learned he had lost a pound since birth (he was 7 # 5 oz when he was born). The doctor wanted to put him on formula right then (of course), but I told her no. I was going to do everything in my power to bring my supply up! I:

Ate right
Drank more water
Took Fenugreek
Took Marshmallow Root
Ate oatmeal every day
Pumped like mad in between feedings
Put my son at the breast whenever he wanted, even for comfort
Saw 2 lactation consultants, both of which had little to no advice for me...

I'm still doing these things and looking into doing more. After another week of trying, he was still losing and I had no choice but to supplement. But my son is reacting to the formula- we are on the most 'sensitive' (and most expensive @ $25 a can!) formula. He gets a rash, he has terrible gas pains, has a hard time pooping, spits up and burps constantly, is fussy ALL OF THE TIME... I need him to feel better!

I am in Longview, but will travel. I can come to Vancouver/Portland or up to Olympia area. I will be forever grateful! I love you
