I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a tube for finger feeding? I know usually hospitals supply this but in this instance the hospital said they dont have any Sad

I dont know if this means anything but I was told specifically a 5f 36" long feeding tube is needed.

If anyone knows where I could find just this tube please let me know!

My direct email is tocancutty@aol.com

Thanks!

Hi,
I don't really know the answer to your post but i couldn't read it and not reply.
I thought for some reason that many people finger fed using an SNS (supplemental nursing system), though perhaps i am mistaken. The tubes for the SNS are not 5 feet though.
Is there a store in your area that rents breast pumps or other nursing supplies? They could help you out with this too, i believe. Also, a medical supply store might also have this tubing.

Good luck!

You mean a 5Fr 36". I used this syringe & tube... and now use an SNS. Depends what you prefer or what baby prefers.

The syringe gets hard to press after several feedings/washings, so buy several. There are different width tubes, and I like the one above - 5Fr 36". It's small enough not to have DD suck the supplement out so easily.

Do you see a lactation consultant? You may be able to get a 'free' one from them... well, at least I got a 5Fr shorter tube after I had a one hour consultation ($75) with them. I don't think they just GIVE them away... but they may if you have an appt. with them. Just a thought.

The short one (guessing 12") didn't allow me to move my arm so easily... the 36" was SO MUCH BETTER!

Your doctor can also write you a prescription for this tubing and then you can buy it at a medical supply store or get it from a lactation consultant. You might be able to see a lactation consultant for free if the local WIC office in your area has them on staff. Where I live, you don't have to be a WIC member to have a free appointment with their lactation consultants. Also, they might be able to help you learn how to feed with the tube.

Hope it helps!
