New donor to Milkshare Empty Re: New donor to Milkshare

We would love to be the recipient. We are the parents of Blessing Annaliese. She is 8 months old. We thought we had some new ongoing donors, but alas, they fell thru. We are getting low on milk and hoping to get her to one year old. Thanks so much for considering us. We live in Shippensburg, so we would have to travel a couple of hours, but more than willing! sunny

New donor to Milkshare Empty New donor to Milkshare

Post by oiler02 Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:25 pm

I am new to milkshare, and nursing my 5 month old son. My son requires "high flow" so I have to overproduce to meet his nursing needs. I am planning to go back to work eventually so I was building a freezer stash. Well, now my freezer is overflowing with milk and I need to make room for new milk.

My oldest milk is from April 2010. I have about 200 oz. I'd be willing to donate at this time.

I do not smoke, take any illegal drugs, or drink caffeine. Very rarely I will have a half glass of wine or a beer (I’ve done this twice since my son was born). I eat a very healthy diet, almost exclusively homemade. I take prenatal vitamins and DHA/Omega 3 supplement. I am hypothyroid and take synthroid, but all milk banks accept milk from synthroid Mamas. I am meticulous about breastmilk collection and storage. I only use Dr. Bronner's baby castile soap to wash my pump parts and storage bottles and transfer into Lansinoh freezer bags each night. The milk has been stored exclusively in a chest freezer.

I do take Fenugreek herbal supplement, while my son has never had a problem or reaction to it – I am hoping for a local recipient who can be sure their LO will tolerate my milk before accepting large amounts. I also eat a lot of soy, so if your LO has any soy sensitivity I am not the Mama for you.

I am located in Pittsburgh. PM me if you are interested in milksharing.
