Have any recipients nursed well into toddlerhood?
have any recipient moms who are able to nurse (but diminished due to low supply) experienced success in nursing past 1 year? I am just reflecting back on my own experience. My daughter nursed until she was nearly 2 and drank breastmilk in a sippy until she was 2 and a quarter. Even though my supply was so meager, ironically I have continued to lactate until the present day (and my daughter's nearly 3!) Sometimes she will get curious and "latch on" (although she has forgotten how to properly do so) after I hand express a drop and she sees it. I explain to her that the milk is going away because she is becoming a big girl now.
This feels like what a mom with a normal supply goes through with the "weaning process" - which, ideally, should be a "process" and not an event.
I attribute a lot of the success to using an SNS since birth (which created a positive nursing experience) and having access to donated breastmilk instead of formula (the little amounts of formula she had she absolutely hated!)
