Viruses transmitted through friend's breastmilk?............ Empty Viruses transmitted through friend's breastmilk?............

Just as a precaution - 2 of my girlfriends pumped some milk for me to bring to the hospital after my c-section - incase my milk didn't come in right away. I returned all milk because luckily mine came in. But I had 3 bags left over in my freezer that my mother used while watching my son one night - it never dawned on me that my friends may have a virus that can be transmitted to my son. I know everyone has their personal secrets - so I am very concerned now and upset with myself for not considering this sooner...

I know all expecting mothers are tested for HIV when pregnant - so I'm not concerned about that - but what else should I be concerned that is transmitted through breastmilk?

Also, My son did NOT receive the Hep B vaccine at birth - should I have him tested for something? I will be asking my pediatrician as well - just wanted to ask all of you as well.

Thanks for your time and comments *

All kinds of viruses and bacteria can be transmitted through breastmilk. Since the milk came from your friends, chances are the milk is safe. After all, you know them and they care about you! Why would they lie? But just an FYI, not all pregnant women are tested for HIV. You can decline testing.
