Donor in Old Town Alexandria Empty Donor in Old Town Alexandria

Post by roisred Mon Mar 16, 2015 11:53 am

Hello! I have a one time donation of breast milk available in Old Town Alexandria. I have about 18 bags of 4-6 oz each which was pumped at the end of January/start of Feb 2015 (dates are on all bags). The milk has been kept in the back of my freezer since being pumped (separate freezer section, not deep freeze) and so should be good for about another month but as I am lucky enough to not need it I am hoping to give it to someone who does before it expires. My son was born 1/2/2015 and so was about 2-3 weeks old when I started pumping this milk (if it matters to you). I was diagnosed with preeclampsia during my pregnancy, and thus had a c-section at 36 weeks when my son was only 4 lbs. He was unable to latch for several weeks, and I was afraid that I would not be able to breast feed him. Luckily, I have a good milk supply, but I want to help someone who may not be so lucky if I can.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am disease free and used good hygiene when collecting milk, do not smoke or use recreational drugs and am not exposed to smoke. I do drink an occasional glass of wine (no more than one, no more than once a week) and so there may be some alcohol exposure in the milk (though I don't think I was drinking at that time...but better safe than sorry). I am also taking labetalol for my high blood pressure (which is a medication which is generally considered safe for breast feeding-my son is breast feeding while I am on it) but please bear that in mind when determining if this milk is right for you.

I live in Old Town Alexandria and am available most days/times for pick-up. I may have other milk available later (as I have continued to pump and freeze in addition to feeding).
