After my son was born premature (Oct. 4th) and unable to nurse right away, I started pumping to get my milk to come in. I was blessed with a fantastic milk supply and pumped 8 to 10 times a day for the full three weeks he was in the NICU and, then, due to supply worries from using a nipple shield I kept pumping after he came home for about another month. Once we determined he was getting enough milk and I didn't need to pump I slowly weaned back to get my supply down to normal levels for him but that took several more weeks.

Needless to say I have a LOT of frozen milk and unfortunately (at least in this case) the little guy likes it straight from the source. We have been trying to give him a bottle a day but we are still using milk from October four months later. We have our regular freezer full and a 3 ft freezer with no food in them, just milk. I really want to give this milk away before it is too late and I would love to have room for food again. I am not sure of the exact quantity that I have. Some of it is in snappies from the NICU that hold approximately 2.5 oz and after we stopped getting those we switched to the bags which originally were getting about 5 oz each. When I was weaning back from the pump I pumped less milk, so they do not all have the same quantity.

I was on pain medication for the first week after he was born and Lovenox (blood thinner) for six weeks after he was born. We have used a lot of that milk, but some of it is still mixed in as organizing got difficult after the freezer filled up. All of it was safe for nursing per the doctor.
