my nursling had coaxsackie virus, can i donate my pumped milk? Empty my nursling had coaxsackie virus, can i donate my pumped milk?

hi all, i think i know the answer to this, but i just want to confirm: my nursing toddler had the coxsackie virus (hand/foot/mouth disease- very contagious) last week, and she was unable to nurse for 54 hours. however, she did latch on and try to nurse several times. i am not pumping much anymore, but had to pump several times in those 2 days (so the pumped milk could have potentially had her germs in it). the milk has been frozen for almost a week now. is it safe to donate? i'm assuming the virus was killed in the freezing process, but i don't know much about that particular virus.

we donate occasionally to a ~10 month old baby we found here on milkshare.

I don't have any experience. Perhaps you can check with your pediatrician.

Even with freezing it might not be worth it to chance it.

is anyone has same question, yes you can. Coxsakie virus is very common - justa cold in adults,, so if your baby has it youre exposed so youre actually making antibodies against it which you're passing on through your milk
