Would be Donor - Taking Medication

I am taking 50 milligrams of Zoloft a day for anxiety/panic issues. I took it during my pregnancy and have been since my DD was born. All under the supervision and approval of my Dr. I'm told not much is excreted into the milk. I am exclusively nursing my 7 mo old who will not take BM from a bottle when I am at work. So I pump on the days I am at work and then take home what I've pumped, freeze it and never use it. I'd love to give the extra, which is typically only 18-20 oz a week (I only work two days a week), to anyone that would take it. Since I am taking this medication, should I not even try to give it away? Crying or Very sad

As long as you are up front with any potential recipients this should not be a problem. Some mamas may decide not to take your milk, but I suspect many would happily still accept it.

I JUST posted milk for donation on the New Jersey listing. I, too, take Zoloft, as i'm sure so many other moms do and want to donate as well but don't come forward.
I take 25 mg a day but previously took 50mg a day while pregnant, just like you.
My post is very similar to yours.
I sure do hope someone can take my milk too.
Please let me know what your success is in finding someone to take your milk.
I have the same situation... freezer is getting full.. but i have much more extra than you.
I, too, hope that someone will take my milk and not be afraid of it. Really, my son is perfectly fine. No "side effects" from nursing him as listed for women who take higher amounts (100+ mg/day).
Good Luck on your search.
Maybe yours and mine will make more women taking this medication come out of the woodwork and make more people accepting of it all. cheers

I just wanted to say that I am a mama looking for donations and am currently on Zoloft as well. Since the milk my son gets from me has Zoloft in it, I would have no problem with donor milk containing it.

I work at a community mental health center and checked with one of the psychiatrists who referred to one of her resource books specific to pregnancy and breast feeding and it says that Zoloft is one of the better anti-depressant's for breastfeeding and pregnancy, every baby will respond to it differently, but the worst that you MAY see is some restlessness or irritability. And for some babies this only lasts a few days until their system gets used to it and for others it persists.
