Breast Milk donation

Post by sjb1skeets on Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:24 pm

Hi my name is Stephanie and my husband Paul and son NOah, welcomed our second son on 8/4 Gabriel after 42 weeks of anticipation! I am an adamant believer in breastfeeding and desperately would like this baby to be able to reap the benefits of breast milk as long as our first son Noah did. We were completely blessed to find so many loving, caring women who selflessly donated to ensure our son's health. He thrived solely on donated milk for 15 months!

I have a structural condition called tubular breast in which I have insufficient glandular tissue and milk ducks to support breast feeding. Despite all interventions I have never been able to maintain a full supply. Currently I have been unable to get more than .5 oz as a combined total from both breast, and I am unable to supply his needs .

We live in central indiana, However have family all over in the Holland, Grand Rapids, Zeeland, and Hudsonville Mi areas. we travel quite frequently to see them. I am willing to travel or meet halfway if it's a reasonable drive. I will cover all shipping costs and provide you with breast milk storage bags of your choice. Please contact me if you are willing to help! My alternative email is We were completely blessed to find so many loving, caring women who selflessly donated to ensure our son's health. He thrived solely on donated milk for 15 months and we are hoping to provide Gabriel with the same benefits of soley breast milk alone!

Milk to Donate (Grand Rapids, Caledonia, Middleville, Hastings, etc.)

Post by Rich_gyrl on Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:18 am

I have a freezer full of milk that we will not use. I counted last night, and I have about 170 ounces stocked up. (Only counting anything stored after June 1st.) (Most bags contain 4 or 5 ounces.) I also plan to continue to express milk for my son, so I will have milk available in the future. I am donating because I hate seeing it go to waste, and it pains me to dump it down the sink.

My son is 8 months old. I have been back at work since he was three months old, and have always had extra milk left over at the end of the week. Since he started solids at 6 months, I have been freezing anywhere from 20 to 30+ ounces a week.

I am on Claritin (L1) and Celexa (L3). (Celexa may cause drowsiness in newborns. I take Celexa every night, and any milk I donate would be expressed at work during the week. I have been on Celexa since my son was 5 weeks old, and he has not had any problems.)

I do not smoke, but occasionally have one drink after the baby goes to bed on Friday night. I always forget to take my prenatals. I have one travel mug of coffee every morning. My son showed signs of being sensitive to milk protien, so I did switch to soy milk. However, I still eat cheese, and have recently become lax about limiting my dairy intake as he seems to have grown out of the sensitivity.

I am willing to provide medical records upon request.

I live in Hastings, but work in Grand Rapids during the week.

Thank you,
