Hi-
I am a Mom to a 3.5 month old little boy.My baby is exclusively breastfed and doing great but I am now returning to work and am unable to pump enough for him. I am only getting 1-2 oz a time and he needs about 4.5 oz a feeding.
I had a bilateral breast reduction when I was 21. I am now 32.
I needed the surgery as I had size FF breasts on a size 4/6 frame. It is hereditary and I already had chronic back pain and shoulder pain by the time I was 17. I used to take advil for the pain and ended up with stomach ulcers from the advil! I put off doing the reduction b/c even at 21 I knew I wanted to nurse someday.
My dr. did the best that he could and in fact he did great b/c I have been able to breast feed until now with no supplementation. I have worked closely with a lactation consultant who specializes in working with women who have had breast surgeries. Somehow I am able to produce just enough as long as I am with my baby all day. But when I am away from him I can't pump enough for him or leave enough for him to be fed all day. Now I need milk so my baby can stay on breast milk while I am working.
Please let me know if you can help us!
Thanks so much!
